“Transmission 85.6”, 5th Gwangju Biennale, South Korea, 2004 | ||||||||
An intensely yellow filter, usually used in film productions to simulate sunshine, has been applied directly to the glass walls. This filter changes the color of the daylight and creates the illusion of supernatural sunshine inside and outside the gallery space. When looking through the glass walls, the viewer’s perception of the world outside is altered and everything becomes extremely bright, oddly intense and unreal. This artificial sunshine remains the same, no matter what the weather is like outside. It creates an atmosphere that is equally beautiful and disturbing. |
