“Borderland”, Deutsches Haus @ New York University, 2004 | ||||||||
25 Watt light bulbs have been spray painted with black, heat resistant spray. When turned on one cannot see any light. One can only feel the warmth they radiate. The windows of the gallery space have been covered with black mirror glass. Thus, when standing in front of them, one cannot see the world outside, but only the mirror image of oneself and the interior space. A black circular mirror reflects the space and the viewer standing in front of it. Even though it is black, one can still see colorful reflections. Looking at it from a distance, it seems to be an infinitely deep black hole in the wall. |
